Laughton Kora, with his incredible voice and immense talent has been at the forefront of New Zealand music for over the past decade. On Thursday he will be playing groovy funk originals and covers along side local musician Josh Clark. Laughton will be using his Ableton loop sequence which allows him to play freely and make music creatively in front of a live audience.
Laughton performed at The Big Day Out 3 times and featured alongside Tool & Dizzee Rascal. Other performances include; the Vodafone Music Awards, WOMAD UK, WOMAD Aust. & WOMAD NZ. Crazy P, Cabaret Voltaire, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Shapeshifter & Shihad. He toured Australia consistently and played Pyramid Festival, Sydney Festival, Stone Festival, FreshFest, Playgorund & Quicksilver ProShow 2009.
He has performed at Koko’s in London, UK, Ireland & Scotland with Crazy P & Norman Jay. Other overseas tours include Japan for 2 Tokyo shows, performances in Minakami and Habuka in early February 2010 and Mosaic Festival in Singapore. In the USA, a full West Coast Tour including Sierra Nevada Music Festival.
Josh Clark is a singer, pianist and conductor from Waiheke Island. In recent years, he has worked on a number of major professional NZ theatrical productions, including the New Zealand premiere of Pasek and Paul’s Edges, Billy Elliot, Pleasuredome, Saturday Night Fever, City of 100 Lovers, CATS NZ National Tour, ONCE the Musical, and We Will Rock You, as well as producing and headlining an Elton John show, Im Still Standing – An Elton John Experience. Josh works regularly as a pianist and singer in many musical genres; from choral and operatic through to Rock n Roll and Jazz. This year, he launched JCM Productions a boutique music and entertainment company.
